Accidents happen. You can’t always prevent them, but you can take steps to reduce the financial impact, which is often substantial. Accident Insurance can help cover the out-of-pocket medical expenses and extra bills that can follow an accident (on or off the job) by paying benefits for specific injuries and events resulting from a covered accident. The benefits paid under this plan do not replace or offset benefits paid by your medical plan.
This insurance through Unum pays you a specified amount for specific injuries resulting from a covered accident. These benefits are in addition to any health insurance benefits you may receive. You can use this money in any way you like, including to pay for medical deductibles, child care, housecleaning, groceries, utilities, etc.—any purpose that can help you meet your personal, financial or household needs. The total benefit you receive is based on the type of injury, its severity, and the medical services you received in treatment and recovery.
It can help you with out-of-pocket costs that your medical plan doesn’t cover, like co-pays and deductibles. You’ll have base coverage without medical underwriting. The cost is conveniently deducted from your paycheck. You can keep your coverage if you change jobs or retire. You’ll be billed directly.
*Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States and actively working at a U.S. location to receive coverage. See Schedule of benefits for a complete listing of what is covered.
