Culture of Service

Culture of Service

We have the vision for a healthier, happier world. And we are uniquely positioned to achieve that in multiple ways but primarily through our strongest asset—our people. With compassionate team members and supported clinicians across the United States, we have the power and resources to improve access to health care and strengthen communities worldwide.

Paid Volunteer Time

All eligible team members receive eight hours of paid volunteer time annually. Hours are available upon hire. Team members can use their paid volunteer time as a team or by themselves. They can be broken up into different increments of time or used all at once. Paid volunteer time is not to lead you into overtime and is to be used for events outside of Smile Generation® Serve Day. Some ideas on where to serve include at a local food bank, church, or as a chaperone for your children’s field trip. To be paid for your time, both hourly and salaried team members must request volunteer time off in People Services Center. Click here to learn more and to find volunteer opportunities near you.

Donate through the We Serve Center

One of the greatest ways you can support your favorite nonprofit organizations is through payroll deductions. You can enroll and cancel your payroll deductions at any time. To enroll, visit the We Serve Center, make a donation, and browse giving opportunities.

Additional Ways to Serve

  • Smile Generation Serve Day – On the third Saturday in August, PDS Health comes together for Smile Generation® Serve Day. Smile Generation® Serve Day is an opportunity for team members across the country to serve as a force for good. Supported practices serve their local communities by offering donated dentistry to the patients of their choice. On the same day, support team members nationwide participate in community volunteer events like beach or park clean-ups and serving at local food banks.
  • Volunteer trips to Guatemala – PDS Health also provides multiple opportunities each year for clinicians and team members to travel together to Guatemala with the PDS Health Foundation. Click here to learn more about how you can join the next trip to serve in Guatemala.
  • Charity: Water Partnership – Each spring, PDS Health partners with charity: water, a non-profit organization that provides clean water to people in developing nations, to host fundraising campaigns in all supported offices and support centers. 100% of all donations collected go directly to building water projects, such as wells and piped systems, with the goal of ending the global water crisis.
  • Inclusion pledge and activities – Each February, team members and supported clinicians have the opportunity to sign the annual inclusion pledge and participate in other activities to learn more about inclusion both within and outside of the dental office.
  • Smile for Special Needs – Each fall we partner with PDS Health Foundation to host a fundraising campaign benefitting their Special Needs Dentistry program. All proceeds go to support training opportunities, advocacy efforts, and increasing access to care for the special needs population.

The PDS Health Foundation

The PDS Health Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Approximately two-thirds of its budget is supported by contributions outside of PDS Health. Our mission is fueled by people like you—team members, patients, volunteers, and strategic partners.

You can make a difference by supporting our efforts through a payroll contribution. You choose the amount, and you decide how your donation is used through the We Serve Center. Plus, you can adjust your contribution at any time.

In addition to giving, you can help us expand our impact by joining our newsletter, signing up for a volunteer event in the We Serve Center, or following us on social media. You can amplify our efforts to help those in need.
